the dew drops on the leaf coalescing into 1, the 6 a.m. breeze that flutters the coconut leaves 30 feet off the ground, the wake up call provided by the sparrows, that rare moment in the day when the crows remain silent, and one can hear the sparrows wake up in their nests.
the sun rays parting through the clouds when the sun hasn't risen to a height that hurts the eyes.. the light that floods the room when the curtains are opened.. the breath of a new day, epitomizes 'fresh'.. once ur cringing eyes get accustomed to the brightness, can u see nature's beauty within the concrete confines we've created around it.
before civilization wakes up, before the routine honking ensues, before the sirens go off, and before the plundering resumes... go outside, and live..breathe in the freshest air you'll get until 24 h later.

Bradypus variegatus
one of nature's truly wonderful specimens is the sloth.. delightfully immobile and pure of heart.. this character has been immortalized on screen by sid (of 'ice age' fame) as a supposedly smooth talking (with the lisp ofcourse) and the eternally bumbling nature where all he ends up down is spiral into self destruction whether its lighting a fire or cleaning a todder's diaper.. sloths' are wonderfully simple.. 1 mantra in life.. live slow.. move slow.. njoy life.. i love sloths!
2- and 3-toed species exist... and all they're good for are for latching onto branches and tree barks and staying there till needed.. to the fast paced and mundane idiots, the almost calculatively and painfully slow nautre might appear nerve-wracking.. but to me, they're the true decoders of life's matrix... whats the hurry!? and they dont jus move slow.. everything about them is slow... (read: perfect).. even the digestion underway in their stomach takes a month to complete per meal.. (ahh!!).. (titbit: their maximum velocity: 0.54 m/s)
sitting in one place, sometimes drooling to one side, slouched, staring into nothingness, immobile, dazed, bored, lazy, yet winning the rat race the sloth way!... sloth isnt a noun, its an adjective.. its me
i cannot fathom the reasons 'they' would categorize sloth as a deadly sin?.. huh? it shuld be a target for them zen masters.. the ultimate level of higher consciousness.... to the dumb layman, u look like ur wasted and pure bored of existence.. but to the master, u hav that aura of peace and tranquillity around u... ur in control and are an authority in all matters immobile.
sloth rules!

a day in the life of... (1)
the following is a figment of my imagination: life from the eyes and beaks of a sparrow
"say, whats up bandit eyes?" the wife asks her dude.. "nothing doll, jus goin out to be the early bird u know... gettin some scraps, some grains, if lucky, then an unlucky worm, some twigs n stuff for the renovation due..the usual.. whats up with u?".. "well, same same.. il go hav some territorial outbursts, some high pitched yelling and some jumping arnd the orchard, evading the nigger crows and jiggling on them human's windows ya know.. usual.. usual..".. n the dude goes, "all rite love, u go do ur thing, n il go do mine".. n so the day begins.
the delicate twitters and tweets we hear are in fact, raging verbal battles with some midair acrobatics to determine the victor of said territory.. "im bigger than u, jerk.. fly away now wen u still can.. or els, il hav to dispatch u with a special note..".. "oh yea, bring it on tough guy".. and 2 min later, the victor stays behind, scours the place for a prime spot to built the twig palace.. n then returns to base.."honey, im home.. got us a swell new place uptown.. lets go check some real estate out!.." ..... "oh yea, ur rite.. this place rocks..!.. our kids will love the garden, n i c no nasty species around either.. safe n comfy.. hmm ".
several hours later.. in the grand congregation under the peepal tree.. which houses over 57 sparrow families... "amist yells of "so, how was ur day, any near hits, misses, with cricket or tennis balls?.. any fights, wins, losses?.. any stalemates, any new chicks? alpha males? did u check their new home? looks nice, when r we moving??"... n then there's silence.. as the crickets get into 2nd gear

Le chat est à plat
the vicious feline stared at the screeching tyres of the accord... less than 3 seconds ago, the same had almost flattened the scrawny cat on the concrete... afternoon siestas are just not what they used to be... gone are the days when the average stray cat could laze around on a spot, reeking of sloth... the extended yawns, body lickings, carefree attitude have given way partly to the unavoidable sense of dread, that something could be lurking around the corner, poisonous fumes, radial tyres, trash, human scorn...
cats have always been victimised as pampered, stereotyped as being lazy and high-aired, disgusting and treacherous... they arent any of that.. being descendents of the big cats, the rulers of the jungle.. they have inherited the royalty.. they just feel the need to look down at others.. nothing arrogant, just genes at work...hence the coined phrase goes.. 'treat a dog nice, it treats u like a god,.. treat a cat nice, it believes it is god'

devolution 101
one can only look at the remains found today and speculate the course of evolution of plants and animals.. looking at fossils, studying the variations in the patterns and structures of organisms of then and now, and extrapolating them to draw a sortof clear picture of the transition of the same.. with us, well we now know that we were all chimps in the beginning frolicking on the branches of kenyan forests.. we were happy n we knew it.
n then, we spread out, evolving along the way.. we had opposable thumbs, and made use of that.. slowly, the evolution became apparent, with the speech development and communications... we became smart, talented, resourceful... that was then... now, if u threw in elements of modernization and the aftereffects of the applications of our ingenuity, we've not evolved.. in fact, we ceased to evolve a long time ago.. approximately a century ago.
we became so caught up in the discovery of technology and inventions following the use of that technology... that we've forgotten our role as elements within a framework.. we've assumed now that we ARE the framework around which earth functions.. nature is going to catch up with us, n when that happens (the process has begun with global warming), we'l retreat into our primate habitats, rediscover the swinging along the tree branches trait and lose ourselves into this devolution, degeneration we cornered ourselves into.
its a shame since the current crop of human existance is right on the cusp of this situation.. with 1 leg in post-modernization and the other leg planted deep into future crises development and subsequent consequences, we're the unfortunate sons of yesterday's fathers who created doom, which we inherited and like obedient sons carried it forward...

the warm breeze
a not-so-pleasant exchange of cooor-cooor's and moronic gawks between 2 crows perched on the ledge outside my house.. im on my knees on the sofa, peering through the 1-way mirror of a window (in the day time, the windows a mirror sort of).. the pair are a few feet away from my face.. taking turns sipping water from the mug i had placed on the ledge.. this is how they quench the summer thirst.
sip sip, a step back frm the water source, point beak towards the heavens and it appears like they gargle it, but they're letting the water slide down their throats.. then step forward and repeat.. once done, a click croack of a thank you to the unknown provider and they're off to tend to the mindless caw cawing on telephone wires.

best days of my life..
i remember.. not vividly, but i remember how my grandfather used to stuff melody or eclairs in his shirt pocket and how id be thrilled to see him whenever he was around.. id march upto him, allow him to lift me and id perform a thorough inspection of his pocket and once the treasure has been retrieved, i settle cozily in his safe laps and begin consuming my loot.. my mom always scolded her dad for this.. "his teeth wil become marshmallows!.. dont keep givin him sweets!!".. but then, u cant blame him, grandparents and grandkids share a unique bond.. very rarely will it waver from the path of sweetness, safety and unconditional love found nowhere else.
even more rare is wen 1 of the 2 gets mad at the other.. its not even imaginable.. can u conjure images of a mom AND a grandmom/grandad berating a kid over spilt milk, rasam, curry or curd for example? the mom might chide, scold and make the kid believe they had dropped plutonium and spread radiation.. but the grandparent will dish out the camera and click, roll.. click, roll.
its like, grandparents spend entire lives doin wat we'l do eventually.. live it out..earn money, build a career, relationships, family.. the works.. and wen its time to take that longawaited break, its grandchildren time!.. its no mere coincidance... its almost magical to see the chemistry between grandparents and grandkids.. both are in it for the fun.. mom's busy in kitchen or work, so kid has grandma's lap or grandpa's shins to stand on and play pretend rocking horse.
i remember hating karate class as an 8-yr-old.. and it so happened that i was left in the charge of my grandparents that afternoon.. the karate thing was in the evening slot, an hour of it.. sometime between 5 n 6 i guess... and being the genius i am, i devised a last minute cunning stunt... i flicked a red marker and sketched an unmistakable fake scar on my left knee.. and then i proceeded to limp my way until evening got done with... and wat an act!.. they both bought it and allowed me to stay home and nurse the hurt... "yes! plan working".. and the moment the clock chimed 6, i was back to my usual nonlimping self.. they havent trusted me since with issues pertaining to the knee hehe. In the bargain, i got an invaluable tale to tell my grandkids!

the stone we're crawling under
tomorrow is the place to be.. oh yea? then wat in the name of all the endangered furry things teetering in enclosures in western europe are we doin today? why do sumthin today wen it can be done tomorrow? is it fair to say we're the controllers of our actions? why this universal bias toward the whole "i know what im upto and all of u who aint me, stick ur nose into a pie that doesnt look like 1" attitude? are we so smart that we know everything thats right for us, everything we need or will need?
i say we're the dumbest things that ever lived on this planet. like the seapony quipped from an unmentioned source, "the surest form of intelligent life forms existing elsewhere in the universe is that none of them have tried to contact us"... right, thats coz we'l even try n generate offspring with them too, we're devious retarded things that inhale and crap, experts at takin, eating, barfing, spoiling, looting, exploiting, and the works.
on a bright note, 2 pandas had sex in some zoo somewhere in japan.. unlike humans, (except those in porn) these bears can get it on regardless of the shutterbugs capturing their slow lust
